Malachi Nelson is the No. 2 prospect in the 2023 class and was committed to the Sooners since July. Hours following Riley's departure, Malachi Nelson decommitted from Oklahoma and is Riley's first big commitment of his USC tenure. Malachi Nelson is a 6-foot-3, 175-pound prospect from Los Alamitos High School in Los Alamitos, California. With him flipping to USC he will be staying home and playing for the team he grew up rooting for.
Oklahoma has seen several decommitments along with current players transferring since Riley left. However, Malachi Nelson is the first to follow him to USC.
Malachi Nelson is the second commitment in USC's 2023 class and the highest-ranked.
