Arkansas-Pine Bluff makes its return to Little Rock for the first time since 2024 and for the first time as the home team since 2012 for its season opener against Morehouse.
The Golden Lions have been frequent guests of War Memorial Stadium over the years. However, many may not realize that one of the program’s most versatile backs ended his career in an all-star game at the venerable stadium.
Adrian Moore capped a solid career in the 2012 Players’ All-Star Classic at War Memorial Stadium. After struggling to find playing time at Oklahoma State, Moore transferred to Pine Bluff before the 2010 season. In his first season, Moore ran for 327 yards on 71 carries and caught 17 passes for 208 yards. He also added 192 kick return yards on seven opportunities, including a 53-yard return against Jackson State. This was good for a 27-yard average.
Despite the modest statistics, Moore showed flashes of potential throughout the year. He tallied 97 rushing yards and 97 receiving yards on six catches against Clark Atlanta and gained 99 receiving yards on five catches against Alabama State.
2011 would be his breakthrough. Moore doubled his ground production, with 680 yards on 132 carries for a 5.2-yard average. He added 30 receptions for 295 yards and six kick returns for 201 yards, including an 82-yard return against Prairie View A&M.
Once again, Moore had his best game against Clark Atlanta in the Gateway Classic in St. Louis. He ran for 155 yards on 12 carries, caught four passes for 25 yards, and returned a kickoff for 23 yards in a 9-7 win. Moore also exceeded the 100-yard mark against Jackson State with 135 yards on 18 carries.
Moore benefited from the upstart Players’ All-Star Classic seeking to attract local talent. He joined 13 other in-state stars, such as future NFL veteran Phillip Supernaw (Ouachita Baptist) and former Arkansas and Central Arkansas quarterback Nathan Dick, on the game’s roster. Moore would only catch one pass for two yards and return a single kick for 27 for the South squad in their 24-19 loss to the North. The Player’s All-Star Classic would not return the following year.
Moores presence in the short-lived Players’ All-Star Classic adds an intriguing quirk to Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s return to venerable War Memorial Stadium.
