The quarterback position will belong to Harvard transfer Jaden Craig. Last season he threw for 2,889 yards, 25 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He is already on many NFL Draft boards as a Top 10 quarterback prospect entering the 2027 Draft. His ability will translate well in new Offensive Coordinator Gordon Sammis’ pro-style offense.
The running back room returns experience in Jeremy Payne and Jon Denman, while also having a good mix of young backs preparing for their turn. Payne rushed for nearly 700 yards last season and will thrive in this new system. True freshman Ace Martin is one to watch.
The wide receiver room returns experience in Jordan Dwyer (All-Big 12), Ed Small, Major Everhart, and Dozie Ezukanma. Dwyer had 730 receiving yards last season. Several freshmen will push for reps. The addition of Jeremy Scott (South Alabama) provides another threat.
The offensive line room returns experience in Cooper Powers, Cade Bennett, Witten Van Hoy, Ben Taylor-Whitfield, and Ryan Hughes. The additions of Jaheim Buchanon (Florida International, All-CUSA) and Noah McKinney (Oklahoma State) bring more proven production to the unit.
The defensive line room returns experience in Paul Oyewale, Zach Chapman, Markis Deal, Ansel Din-Mbuh, and Tristan Johnson. The additions of Cheta Ofili (Texas Tech), Koron Hayward (Western Kentucky), and Kelten Mickell (JUCO) will all play roles along with several freshmen.
The linebacker room returns Max Caroll but will need transfers or redshirt freshmen to emerge. Michael Teason has some experience and Virginia Tech transfer Michael Short will be relied upon. Otherwise, look for young, hungry players to see action.
The secondary returns experience in Jamel Johnson (All-Big 12), Vernon Glover Jr., Julius Simms, Kylin Jackson, Gil Jackson, Kaden McFadden, and Jordan Lester. The additions of Kalen Carroll (Central Michigan), Teon Parks (Colorado), and Jacob Fields (Louisiana Tech) have all seen action.
The kicking role will belong to Kyle Lemmermann, who dealt with injuries last season, but has proven production. The punting role will belong to Louisiana Tech transfer John Hoyet Chance, who has proven production as well.
TCU has enough talent to compete in the Big 12, but they did lose a lot of star power from last season's team. The Frogs quietly put together a nine-win season in 2025. The new offensive system will be interesting to watch.
