In the world of college football, the Southern Conference (SoCon) is known for its fierce competition. This week's FCS Top 25 Poll, curated by Redshirt Sports, shows some interesting changes and highlights in the rankings.

Furman (2-1) stands out at No. 6 in the rankings. The last time Furman won the SoCon championship was in 2018. They are determined to reclaim that title.

Western Carolina (2-1) has made a strong comeback, earning the No. 18 spot. They were ranked No. 22 in last week's Top 25, but their recent victory against Eastern Kentucky, a team that made the FCS playoffs in 2022, helped them climb in the rankings.

Mercer (2-1) and Samford (1-2) are tied at No. 21. Mercer had a bye week and Samford had a tough game against Auburn.

At the very top of the rankings, South Dakota State, North Dakota State, and Montana State hold their positions as the top three teams. Sacramento State makes a notable jump to No. 5 after an impressive win against Stanford, while William & Mary moves down to No. 7.

Our FCS Top 25 Poll is put together by us here at Redshirt Sports. Each voter's first-place pick earns 25 points, and the points decrease for each subsequent ranking.

As the college football season unfolds, the SoCon continues to be a hotbed of competition. Which team will emerge as the champion this year? Stay tuned for more updates and exciting moments on the gridiron.
